It’s only a few weeks before the University of the Philippines College Admission Test. For incoming freshmen college students, this is perhaps the most important test that you will take in your entire life. The UPCAT will not only determine where you will spend the next four years of your life, it will also give you a glimpse of your future: the kind of career you’ll have and the sort of friends you’ll make.

I know that you are all anxious about it. And some of you might not have been sleeping well for the past few weeks. Relax!

If you had attended Ahead Tutorial & Review Center’s one-month review course, then you are all set. Because we patterned our review program after the UPCAT, you would have gone through materials that are likely to appear on the actual exam itself. Your teachers would have guided your studies, answering tricky questions and explaining complicated concepts. More importantly, you would have taken simulated tests with time limits that you gave you the feel—and the pressure—of what the
actual exam would be like.

Of course, it would help if you had religiously studied your notes. Have you been practicing mind mapping? It would help you memorize concepts and brainstorm new ideas. Have you taken our speed reading courses to heart? It would help you read faster and comprehend ideas easier.

By now, you should be getting ready for your refresher course. This one-day event is designed to make you even more confident about the upcoming UPCAT. Because sometimes, you get too caught up with studying and reviewing that you forget the essentials.

For example, take care of your health. Sleep well. Eat properly. A healthy student performs better in exams than a sick one. Prepare the things you need the day before the exams. You don’t want to be rushing to a convenience store a few hours before the test to buy your pencil. This aggravation would only add to your already frayed nerves. And wear something comfy. Now is not the time to make a fashion statement. Now is the time to wear something comfortable.

Your mind needs to be positive around this time. If you keep thinking that you will fail, then you will only attract negative energy.  You will only work yourself up into a figure of gloom and doom. You don’t want to be that person right now. You are very well prepared, so you should go to battle thinking that you will win!
